The Concept !

• Aajeevika’s aim is to create a network of women’s self help groups across slums in Delhi such that women are enabled to make choices of savings, investments, reproductive and sexual health and domestic and social expression. What we maintain is that mere access to financial services for consumption smoothening is not enough; investments have also be made in their livelihoods, health, literacy, access to social services and skill upgradation. 

• The SHGs to be formed will be provided a range of capacity building and training inputs, with a focus on financial intermediation. As they graduate up the confidence ladder, the groups will be linked to institutional credit, either with banks or micro finance institutions (MFIs), as well as a range of other innovative financial services (savings linked health cover, micro insurance, credit for education, credit for livelihoods/microenterprises etc.).
